OUR ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
THE current organizational structure of the Ministry of Education and Training is shown in figure on the left. The three key positions Minister, Deputy Minister and Principal Secretary are political appointees. The Ministry is headed by the Minister who is assisted by the Deputy Minister. The Principal Secretary is the administrative head of the Ministry and is assisted by the Deputy Principal Secretary. Ministry has six technical programmes/departments, each headed by Chief Education Officer’s (CEO’s) or Directors.

MISSION STATEMENT
To develop and implement policies which ensure acquisition of functional literacy among all Basotho and development of a productive, quality human resource base through education and training.
VISION
Basotho shall be a functionally literate society with well-grounded moral and ethical values; adequate social, scientific and technical knowledge and skills by the year 2020.
In striving to attain its Mission and Vision, the Ministry of Education and Training shall be guided by the following ideals and values:
Access, Quality, Equity, Relevance, Service delivery: productivity, efficiency, effectiveness, Intra and inter linkages, Professionalism, integrity, transparency and accountability, Social responsibility, Democracy: devolution and decentralization, This includes gender equality.
